It all begins with movement.

We live in a society where pacification has superseded expectation. A child seeking a healthy support system often ends up finding themselves immersed in a culture that encourages them to act like an adult -- but fails to show them how to become one.

Drowning in an egocentric (“ME”) epidemic that is reinforced in our 24/7 world, many young adults remain content believing, and ultimately passively accepting, that life is a spectator sport. Unwilling to take ownership over their choices, they function without thought to what is happening to them and those around them. This has to change.

For us, the solution is simple: all change starts with movement. For Change the Game, movement holds the power to unlock a self-awareness that allows us to define our next steps. Our all-volunteer coaches spend over 700 hours in moving fellowship with our teams of 11th and 12th grade students in the outdoors and in the communities where we live.

We hike, bike, swim, climb and run over 300 miles, serve through over 250 hours of community service, and travel over 2500 miles EVERY YEAR.

As an all-volunteer organization, we are always looking for support. Whether you would like to get involved as a volunteer, help us host a fundraiser, or provide a monetary donation, there are a variety of ways to support the continued growth of our organization.

2018-2019 Season

For the 2018/2019 season, Change the Game, in partnership with Propel Schools, recruited a team of up to 24 students to go through a two-month audition phase. During this initial time period, each student completed an application that included recommendations, an interview and gained an understanding of the program’s expectations. Each student spent time getting to know Change the Game and our coaches, while moving through mindful exercise and community service. Our coaches evaluated the students based on their proven willingness to commit to our intense schedule over this two-month period, their embracement of stewardship, their preparedness to welcome change into their lives, and their ability to meet minimum physical fitness qualifications. The final 11 students were selected to the team in January 2019.

The experiences the team will encounter throughout the year are intentionally challenging and, for some, uncomfortable. Change the Game believes that growth is dependent on one’s ability to be self-aware and conscious of how individual actions impact the lives of others.
